Alberto Espiricueta

Alberto Espiricueta is a master’s student at UCLA’s Urban and Regional Planning program, where he is pursuing the Luskin Design and Development certificate to deepen his expertise in affordable housing and community economic development. Alberto is motivated by alternative models of housing, such as community land trusts, that build the power of residents to shape their living situation at home and in their neighborhood.

He is especially interested in advancing policies that protect tenants from displacement while increasing the supply of affordable homes for income-qualified households. As a Merritt Scholar, Alberto looks forward to learning from industry experts and peers while strengthening his understanding of the technical aspects of both crafting policy and affordable housing development.
